Glasgow is world renowned as the largest city in Scotland, and famous for achieving the position of the third highest populated city in United Kingdom. One can fully name it as the City Of Glasgow. This glorious city is positioned on the River Clyde, lying in the west innermost lowlands of the country.
The name of a local parlance is Glaswegian, and is called for a person hailing from Glasgow. Glasgow derived its name from the Middle Gaelic equivalent, meaning green hollow.

The current position of Glasgow has been utilized since times immemorial for the purpose of settlement. It was once an integral point of the River Clyde, which was considered a natural fishing ground for salmons. Glasgow slowly but surely expanded over the following decades, and what with the foundation of the University Of Glasgow, and the increase in the level of religious and educational qualifications of the town became prominent.

In the succeeding industrial era, the production and exportation of textiles, steel and engineered goods, hitched Glasgow to an upper level. Shipbuilding became a major activity. By the closing stages of 1821, the population of Glasgow had left Edinburgh, a sister city, far off in the race. The city was famous as the ‘Second City of the Empire’. At that time, Glasgow was heavily into building ships, and exportation of locomotives to the rest of the world.

The climate of Glasgow is not the same old typical weather that one can experience in the rest of Glasgow; the spring months are found to be cool and pleasant. Glasgow literally becomes a dear green place at the advent of spring, and becomes green and beautiful all over. The flowers bloom, the winds blow, and the grass are always greener in Glasgow!
