Scotland, the word itself is derived from the Latin word, Scoti, which is a commonly used term applied to Gaels, meaning the land of Gaels. However, in the Late Middle Ages, the usage of the words Sots and Scotland became common, to now what we refer to as Scotland.

Stunning Scotland

Scotland is a stunning country, which covers the northern part of the beautiful island of Great Britain. It shares a terrain boundary with England at the south and occupies an integral part of United Kingdom. The North Sea limits it at the eastern part, whereas the north and west part is bounded by the Atlantic Ocean. Scotland, being a gigantic island includes more than 790 islands in its huge body mass. These include Edinburg,Northern Isles, and Hebrides.

Scotland is one of the most intellectual, creative, commercial and developed powerhouses of Europe. The head of Scotland is often referred to as the monarch or the king of this spectacular kingdom. Since 1952, Queen Elizabeth has been the prestigious title-owner. At the same time, Scotland has restricted self-government rules within the UK.

Since ancient times, Scotland has been categorized into sub-divisions including the earldom, stewartry, burgh, and parish and so on. The names of these particular regions are used for describing the geographical facets. A very open mixed economy, western style is observed in Scotland, it can be closely related to the remaining areas in Europe.

The climate of Scotland is very ideal and pleasant.  Predominantly, it is temperate and oceanic, and is not normally stable. It has mild winters, pleasant summers, and heavy snowfall. The Lynx, Brown Bear, Walrus, Elk are some of the famous extinct animals from Scotland. There are also many famous birds from Scotland, out of which the Golden Eagle is nothing less than a National Icon.
